Before you read what Anya has to say about her Identity Work, I want to say as a counselor that Identity Work-based counseling is phenomenally effective and typically faster than a good deal of conventional psychoanalytical therapy. Why is that?
Well, to start, Identity Work-based counseling is an active dialogue designed to lead the client to core drivers in behavior. Too often, conventional therapeutic sessions are confined to the conditions of the client’s belief system, a reality composed of rules that cannot be changed. So much time and effort is spent on addressing these collateral issues—which by all means appear to have merit and warrant attention and the promise of satisfaction if fixed. And while attending to these does provide a degree of positive change, the issues somehow persist.
And this is where Anya Lincoln’s Identity Work is amazing. By following a path of inquiry that is at once boldly simple (even obvious!) and incredibly radical, the conversation reveals core thoughts and beliefs that are responsible for recreating the conditions in which the same issues continue to dog our happiness and fulfillment. once identified, these core thoughts are jettisoned and the person feels like they now exist in a free and creative world.
Okay, let’s read what Any Lincoln has to say about her extraordinary approach to consciousness, creativity and authentic living…
Identity Work is a method of inquiry, that investigates your world for the only thing that can truly change it - the thought or thoughts that organize and create that world, your Identity.
Identity is a deep, subconscious thought that one assumes about their own nature. It is not a limiting belief or an easily detected thought. It is something that you can only find by looking at the actual reality you live in, because Identity manifests as your reality inside and outside of you.
The uniqueness of Identity Work is that it addresses a relationship you have to both the experience of reality (thoughts, feelings, attitudes) and reality itself (relationships, money, work, etc). Identity Work shows a path to realizing oneness and connection to everything, to becoming unconditionally and independently happy, and creating whatever you want in life.
It's a path to enlightenment that isn't detached from real life. It's a path to realizing that you are your life -- all of it -- and you are a much more powerful creator than you ever dreamed.
Identity Work is transformative work - it is focused on dismantling major paradigms in your consciousness, and giving you access to a truly clean slate.
